Small Business Small Budget: Top Online Marketing Tips

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Small Business Small Budget: Top Online Marketing Tips

If you own a small business, you know that finding the money for things like marketing can be difficult. With online marketing, not only can you find ways to save money, but marketing your business online can be more beneficial than more traditional offline methods. If you’re trying to market on a small budget, here are three tips you need to take into account.

Use Social Media Without Wasting Your Time

Nowadays, it’s absolutely necessary for a business to be using social media for marketing – and the best thing about social networking is it’s free! Sites like Twitter and Facebook are basic requirements for any business. Small business owners have a lot to do, and social media can seem like an overwhelming undertaking, so don’t take on too much; you don’t need to use every social media site out there. Instead, try different sites and see which ones work well for your marketing purposes. Once you decide what you want to use, you should create a schedule for when updates are needed for each site. This will guarantee you stay consistent with updates.

Email Marketing: It’s Not Outdated!

Social networking sites have taken over online marketing campaigns in the past couple years, but that’s no reason not to continue using platforms that are tried and tested. Email marketing is one of the best ways to market a business online, and if you’re on a small budget it’s perfect. Email is a great way to reach a huge audience, and if you know what you’re doing you can personalize messages so that it seems less like a mass mail-out and more like a personal greeting. Email marketing requires little time and little money. Once the content has been created, the message can be sent out to your email list quickly and easily.

Online Marketing is a Great Way to Build Relationships

If you’re new to the online marketing game then it’s important to know that online lends itself much better to building relationships than it does to traditional advertisements. People can leave a website with one click, so if you’re bombarding them with ads that simply sell your product, then they probably won’t stick around for long. No matter what platforms you’re using, try using online marketing to build relationships. Create engaging content that people want to pay attention to, and you’ll see an increase in customers in no time. There you have three tips for using online marketing on a small budget. Choose social media sites wisely, send out emails, and focus on building relationships. With these tips, it’s easy to market online for less!

3 Tips for Creating a Website that Converts

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on 3 Tips for Creating a Website that Converts

Small businesses use web sites to create an online presence with the ultimate aim being to create and convert leads into sales. Websites are essentially the online portal into a small business. They serve as the first impression that many customers will get of the new brand. This post will talk about how to design this powerful sales tool to convert leads to customers.

1. Include Useful Content On Your Site

Customers can be turned off from a web site that only seem interested in getting them to make a purchase. Consumers are far keener on feeling some sort of connection with the businesses they opt to buy from. While they are interested in the product you have on offer, without some useful content to hold their interest you may just lose a few valuable customers.

Useful content takes away any appearance of trying to hard sell the visitors to your web site. Your visitors will get the impression that you are recommending the product instead. People are more prone to respond and follow through on a purchase if the product is recommended and not pushed on them. The content will also indicate to your customers that you are an expert and pretty knowledgeable about the product. This will build credibility and that can make all the difference to your web sites conversion rate.

In cases where you include a free report as a part of your content, hyperlink your keyword that is related to the free report. This will facilitate their quest to find out what they can about a certain keyword phrase. The hyperlink will redirect them to the report’s raid conversion landing pages. Try to getting your visitors to share a valid email address by offering them free content.

2. Offer free products

Do not expect your visitors will not give up their email address for free. You have to earn it so start by offering them some free content in exchange for their email address.

2. Personalize Your Web Site with a Photo or Video of Yourself

Online scamming is a very prevalent practice that legitimate online users do not find amusing. People have become extremely wary of conducting online transactions with businesses they are not familiar with. You need to make your customers feel comfortable enough to want to do business with you. This requires that you find a way to break their mindset.

Personalizing your web site is the best way to go. You can use a photo or a video as introductory material that will capture the attention of your online visitors. This is an effective way of assuring your site visitors that you are a real person. It can play a significant role in boosting your conversion rate.

These steps are easy to implement and have proven to be quite effective in helping small businesses improve their conversion rates. They will also give you positive results.

How Long Is Too Long? Internet Video Marketing Dos and Don’ts

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on How Long Is Too Long? Internet Video Marketing Dos and Don’ts

If you’re already using video marketing in your online marketing campaign, you know how beneficial it can be for any type of business. However, many businesses are making mistakes when it comes to their video marketing strategies. If you aren’t sure how to make video work for you, then keep these dos and don’ts in mind next time you’re focusing on video marketing.

Do Keep Things Short

People have very limited attention spans when it comes to the Internet, so make sure you don’t waste their time with a long video. Try to stick to the five-minute rule. The five-minute rule is exactly what it sounds like: keep your videos shorter than five minutes. Generally, the shorter a video is, the more likely it’s going to be watched all the way through. In fact, if people see that a video is much longer than five minutes, they often just won’t bother watching it at all.

Do Give Your Business a Face

This is pretty basic; people are more likely to remember your business if they can put a face to the brand. Showing viewers a person or a “character” that they can relate to the brand name is a great way to create brand awareness.

Do Integrate Video Marketing with Social Networks

Video and social media work perfectly together, so once you’ve created your video, make sure you connect it to your social networks. It’s easy to use YouTube to post to your blog, or include links on Twitter and Facebook. Social networking is only going to get more popular, and posting videos on these sites is a great way to provide your readers with some varied and engaging content.

Don’t Focus Too Much on Selling

There are very few people who choose to go on YouTube or Vimeo and watch regular advertisements. Focus instead on engaging and entertaining your viewers so that they’ll remember your business. Creating a video with the idea that you’re going to sell something is a guaranteed way to lose an audience. Instead, think about what you would want to spend your free time watching. Engage, build relationships, and boost your sales all at the same time! Keep these dos and don’ts in mind the next time you’re creating a video for marketing purposes. Keep things short, make it personal, integrate video with social networks, and focus on engaging, not selling. With these tips, you’ll be going viral in no time!

What Not to Do When Advertising Your Brand on YouTube

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on What Not to Do When Advertising Your Brand on YouTube

Advertising on YouTube can be very successful for your business if you follow the right way of doing things. With billions of potential viewers, YouTube remains one of the biggest ad market available for any business. It is scalable to fit the needs of a small business owner as well as a corporation. It lacks the barriers of entry associated with other advertising markets, and has a better than average conversion rate for well-targeted campaigns. To ensure that you get the most out of your advertising campaign, here is what not to do when advertising your brand on YouTube. If you take precaution, you will avoid pitfalls that befall many innocent brands that try to make an impact on their brands through YouTube.

1. Don’t assume

Assumptions are very bad for any business. They can lead to a loss of revenue just because a simple influencing factor is overlooked in the formulation of an advertising campaign. Assuming that all YouTube users will like the message in your campaign, without actually conducting split tests and target trials is a sure recipe for disaster. Another unfortunate thing that most advertisers do is to go with generic messages that they assume will yield a greater than average conversion for their target audiences. Again, this is wrong. In all cases, the advert you place will appear within a context, and this calls for more testing before choosing a particular strategy.

2. Don’t use only one form of advert

One advert may work well for a particular audience, initially, but after sometime, people zone off literally and train their eyes to overlook the advert. Even if they still recognize the brand in their subconscious, it is unlikely that they will actively interact with the brand of the advert in the short-term period. To prevent your campaign strategy from becoming stale, try combining more than one call to action in the advert and use both disruptive and subtle forms of ad placement.

3. Don’t create a wrong message for the target audience

The last thing you want is for the audience to go straight to the ‘close’ or ‘skip’ button for your ad because it does not match whatever they are currently viewing. Try as much as possible to blend the ad with the context where it is displayed. In addition, keep in mind the interests and context that brings your viewer to the advertisement. Make it easy for them to understand your message and quickly tell if they are the target. It is the responsibility of the advertiser to feed all this details to the viewer. Like the first precaution said, don’t overlook anything about your audience, however minute it seems.

4. Don’t put false claims

Be honest in whatever you claim you or your product will do. Don’t come up with overblown statistics about when you buy YouTube views cheap just to influence a call to action. Buying views does work, but you still need to do further measures to ensure conversion happens.

5. Don’t forget a call to action

The biggest mistake of all is to have an advertisement that does not tell its audience what to do next. Yes, they already have seen the advert, do you want them to continue back to their business or do you want them to interact more with yours?

Social Media And Your Health

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Social Media And Your Health

Introduction

Like anything that rockets into mainstream popularity, researchers have been eager to see how social networking, such as Facebook, affects the health of users. Researchers have found positive and negative health affects between users and Facebook. Researchers have found that not only can Facebook provide support to users suffering from disease; it can also help fund research, raise awareness and help prevent outbreaks. Doctors, however, have also had to respond to negative health conditions that are related directly to Facebook.

Facebook Can Positively Impact Your Health

Researchers have found that Facebook has the ability to positively impact your health. Doctors and researchers will unanimously agree that they key to staying healthy is disease prevention. Facebook allows users to be connected with exercise plans and diets that their friends are using as well as main stream diet products. As a healthy weight and balanced diet is key to good health, getting connected with health networks can help users prevent falling ill in the future. Additionally, researchers in a Harvard study found that infection can be predicted based on friend circles. When a Harvard student contracted the flu earlier this year, researchers were able to track and predict which one of his Facebook friends would become sick. This was done by discovering who he interacted with most on Facebook, and then which one of his friends posted about being sick. Researchers hope that this method of tracking could be used if a more dangerous outbreak should occur in the future. Potentially, researchers would be able to predict who would come in contact with the infected person, notify them, and prevent the disease from spreading.

Support

Facebook has also become a haven for people dealing with rare diseases and disorders. Since genetic diseases are often rare, many people suffering from these diseases and their families and caretakers often felt alone. With over 1 billion users, people from all walks of life are logging on. Support groups and pages have been created for specific diseases allowing people who previously felt alone to connect. Disease victims and their families are able to offer each other support, as well as talk about treatment plans and doctors that worked best for them.

Facebook Addiction and Depression

Psychiatrists and family doctors are facing problems with their patients that they have never had to face before thanks to Facebook; most noteably Facebook addiction and depression. Users who are on Facebook more than three hours a day risk becoming addicted, doctors say. These users become so accustomed to constantly knowing what is happening with their friends and keeping themselves connect that they neglect everyday responsibilities. They may log on at work and face expulsion from their job or while driving and risk getting into a serious car accident. When these addicted users are forced to be off Facebook, for whatever reason, they often become angry or depressed. Depression related to Facebook can range from mild to severe and can come with a wide range of negative effects.

Steve Has Been Busy…But He’s Back!

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Steve Has Been Busy…But He’s Back!

Where has Steve Been? I think I’ve been asked that question about 876 times in the past few months 🙂

Here’s the short answer: I felt like something was missing in my life. I missed the feelings of “making a difference” I had when teaching high school students years ago. Since I didn’t want a “real” job to satisfy what I was missing, I started a new, part-time career.

I am now certified as a Case Manager and a Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialist. (Basically, those certifications allow me to work as a mentor/teacher/case manager for SoonerCare of Oklahoma members under the age of 19).

I am now a private contractor for a local agency that services medicaid clients in the SoonerCare program. It took me about 8 months to get the certifications, “learn the ropes” in the business, and get my case load built up to where I’m working at it 3 days a week. I REALLY enjoy it. I work with some great kids and I feel like I’m making a significant difference in their lives.

Since I’ll only work three days a week in my new “career”, the rest of the week will be “full speed ahead” with Internet marketing.

I have two new personal online projects I’m working on right now. PLUS, I’ve changed my coaching program so I can help more people like you learn this business.

Times are hard for a LOT of people right now. Money is tight. People are still without a job and/or are losing their job. I want to help as many people as I can.

Therefore, I’ve made my coaching program MUCH easier for people to afford.

New students get a one-on-one strategy call with me, full access to my large, private online library of how-to tutorials, AND unlimited Q&A directly with me via a private blog.

The Changing Face Of Online Marketing

Posted by: | Comments (8)

Wow, how times have changed in the Internet marketing world in the past 6 months. Most of the past Google updates have not meant a complete change in how we do things.

For the past 6 or 7 years I, and the a great majority of online marketers, played the google game by slapping up “ok” content and then backlinking the heck out of it. It worked like a charm…but not any longer.

A small number of you out there will stand up and self-righteously proclaim we are getting our just deserves. That small group remained on the high road of only the best quality content with no artificial backlinks. Most only had so-so success or, if they did well, it took FOREVER. The rest of us were making $ hand over fist playing the backlinking game.

But now many of us (including me) have seen some of our sites actually PENALIZED by Google BECAUSE we played the game THEY REWARDED us for in the past years.

How crazy is that??

It’s like telling people for years you could go 70 MPH on the interstate and then the speed limit is lowered to 60 MPH. That would be fine, but the cameras on the roadway were taking video the whole time. Now the video is being examined. Anyone caught going 70MPH in the past, when it was LEGAL, is now being sent tickets and some are even having their licenses taken away. This is exactly what is happening now with some sites.

Is it fair? Heck no! But life is not. It IS their business and they can do with it what they want. They get to make the rules for their business. If we don’t like it, we are free to build our own search engine.

More people will make more money online in the coming year than ever before. The rate of beginning online marketers having success will be the same or better in the coming year than ever before. People will still get tons of profitable traffic from Google’s organic search results.

How will that be possible?

It’s simple. Online marketers will adjust and learn the new “rules” Google has applied. Sure, it stinks in the short-term for many of us. But life goes on. I truly believe the recent updates will be for the best.

What You Should Know About Google’s Latest Update

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on What You Should Know About Google’s Latest Update

Whether you are just beginning with Internet marketing or already rely on Google for some (or most) of your current site’s traffic, it’s extremely important you know about the recent changes happening with SEO.

As you may have already heard, Google changed the rules…again. It’s nothing new, and it for sure won’t be the last time. They have rolled out parts of this update (code named Panda) since the fall. By all accounts, they are still implementing new aspects of it on a regular basis.

Many sites are just now facing drops in their rankings. Some of my sites, for some keywords, have been affected too. (However, some of my big keywords have actually done better during this update…after all, there are as many winners as losers during each tweak of Google’s search algorithm.)

Of course no one knows (but Google) what all the changes are in the update. But we have a pretty good idea of its main focus. Basically, they are taking a harder look at on page SEO and the overall quality of sites’ pages. Specifically, they are watching more for over-optimization and over-advertising. Too many keywords, too many H1’s, too many bold keywords, too many ads…simply put, just TOO much “SEO” and too much “trying to monetize”.

There has always been much misinformation about SEO. It’s hard for beginners to understand exactly what is required. (hint: there is not much “exact” about any of Internet marketing).

Some of my new students, when they first start my coaching, still think a 5 to 7% keyword density is required (Yeah, there are many 8 year old web pages still proclaiming 7% is good…be careful where you find your info.)  Now days, that high of density will  fire up Google’s wrath.

If you are a current student, BE SURE to review on our member site my recent audios over the past few weeks. I go into great detail about how you should handle on-page SEO now.

Probably the biggest surprise about the Panda update is Google’s new focus on off-page SEO. Yes, they are hammering sites for over optimizing off the page. In other words, they are looking closing at our backlinking methods. They have devalued some of  backlinks they rewarded us for in the past.  I know, it seems really unfair; but Google gets to make the rules remember.

Again, all of my members should spend time listening to the recent info in the member’s area about all this. There are several hours of  new MP3’s in the member’s area where I talk specifically about what you should do now AND stop doing now.

During the member calls in the recent weeks we talked about how it’s more important than ever to keep your links looking as natural as possible. In a nutshell, vary your anchor text greatly. Also, avoid link networks (BuildMyRank has lost all their Google love).

I can’t go into all the details here in an email, but for those non-members out there, my general  advice is to keep your SEO work, both on and off page, as natural looking as possible. Google has always hated too strong of SEO efforts…but they hate it worse now.

Although I give away a LOT of info, I do promote some third party products that I use and find great value in.
Usually, I will receive a commission when these products are purchased from this site.
But as I said, I NEVER promote anything unless I find it valuable in my own business.
