Definition of term vine

In the world of social networking, there are many ways in which people are trying to keep up and stay in touch with their friends. There are quite a number of ways to do this, but this is still not enough. This is the reason why Twitter has come up with the new application known as Vine.

Vine is a new way of sharing videos with your Twitter followers. You record a six second video that shows what you are currently doing. The reason for the short duration of the video is so that the one making the tweet can be creative as possible.

Facebook and Vine

Just as Vine was released, it had an option in which you as a Vine user could access your friends profile on Facebook lf you were a new Vine user, you would not have to manually search for the friends who you had on Facebook so that you can interact with them on Vine. It was hailed as a very easy and efficient method.

Reasons for the Snub

One of the reasons that have been cited for this is the Instagram saga. Instagram was launched to work in collaboration with Facebook. This was a clever way of sharing experiences that one was having, such as posting pictures of you at lunch or at the hairdresser. For instance, you could share a funny photo instead of having to write it out in full.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, you get to pass a full message without saying a word. Twitter refused to integrate Instagram in its operations, a clear sign that it was not willing to make alliances with Facebook. Thus, Facebook declining the Vine authorization was seen as a way of getting back at Twitter.

Facebook feels that this is a way of Vine getting publicity for itself. According to some of Facebook statutes, it is clearly defined that no firm can use Facebook to promote services similar to those offered by Facebook. With Vine, Facebook feels threatened that Twitter is trying to use Facebook to its advantage.

Vine has also received mixed emotions from the users. This is especially pertains to its privacy settings. Many people have complained that the comments they get on Vine videos are inappropriate. They require a means of having power over who comments on their videos.

One thing to not however, is that Facebook grants full access to timelines. If it was clearly a rivalry, Facebook would have cut this off too. This means that maybe the two major networking sites can agree.

Conclusion

The battle between the two major social networks continues. In their efforts of trying to outdo each other, they are in fact ending up inconveniencing the users. One who wants to use Vine on their Facebook account will do so though with major struggle.

One can only hope that they will soon come to agreement. This will enable them give the clients what they want, a fun social networking experience. As for now one will just have to live with the situation as it is.

Usually, I will receive a commission when these products are purchased from this site.
But as I said, I NEVER promote anything unless I find it valuable in my own business.
