PayPerClick Advertising: Facebook vs. Google AdWords

By

Google stated that Facebook is their number 1 competitor.

I have to agree!

From my experience it’s MUCH easier to have a decent ROI with Facebook ads than it is with AdWords. In fact, I’m pretty much finished with AdWords…for now anyway.

Targeting and cost are what make Facebooks ads such a great choice for PayPerClick advertising.

Sure, you can select and target various keyword searches in with Adwords, but Facebook targeting has taken this to a whole new level in my opinion. I won’t try to explain the reasons for this; it’s just the nature of Facebook that makes it all work so well.

Not only are the ads extremely targeted, the click costs are up to half the price of AdWords clicks.

Here are a few tips for using Facebook advertising:

  • Send traffic to a Facebook fan page instead of an external URL (the clicks are cheaper)
  • Make sure the fan page has a clear call to action (of course)
  • The  picture in your ad is VERY important. It must be very “eye catching”.
  • In my experience, the “cost per click method” is cheaper than the “cost per impression”…but test this yourself.
  • Facebook does not have a good conversion tracking system yet. (Come on Facebook…what is the hold up??) In the mean time, Google analytics can be used to track where the traffic to the thank you page initially originated from.
  • Start low with your budget while you test multiple ads to see which achieves the best CTR (again, right now, conversion tracking per ad is not possible). I usually begin with a $5.00 daily budget as I test.
  • Set the bid for clicks as high as needed to get impressions. Your actual click costs will almost always be much lower than the bid. It depends on the niche as to how high you must bid. It may take a day or two of adjustments before you see good impressions.

You are always “on the ball”. Business life always moved on which often helped destroy big corporations – still does.
Today it is Facebook but tomorrow – who knows?
Main thing is the need to keep up to date except now it is almost on a minute by minute basis rather than the annual review
Easy to get swamped by information overload

  3. I absolutely agree, facebook advertising is, at the moment cheaper and less competitive… the other point to remember is just how targeted you can be with the facebook system…and that’s the secret to making it work for you…

Hehe….you name it, there’s a market for it! Facebook has countless millions of users. There’s no limit to what could be marketed there. Be sure to study my “find a niche” post: http://wordpress-17920-39382-109004.cloudwaysapps.com/niche-marketing-tips/

For example…take your eBook site….it’s too big to market by itself, but there are any number of niches you could pick out from there and focus on with a niche site.

    Hi,
I’ve advertised my band on facebook and had amazing results. We released a CD on ITUNES et all, and I had about a very small budget. This was last year by the way. I set up a test of $5 a day and then after I had a better understanding, raised it. The reports were phenomenal, and what impressed me wasn’t just clicks, but the people who clicked through and then signed up to be a fan of the band. It expanded our potential customer base substantially.

We’re getting ready to release a new product and I’m planning on having another campaign soon and I can’t wait, it is so fun to watch the numbers roll in.

Although I give away a LOT of info, I do promote some third party products that I use and find great value in.
Usually, I will receive a commission when these products are purchased from this site.
But as I said, I NEVER promote anything unless I find it valuable in my own business.
