A lot of folks ask me what my favorite keyword tool is. Hands down, it’s Market Samurai. Nothing can compare to this “souped up”, keyword tool on steroids! Wow, this bad boy tool is simply awesome!

I have a video below to show you some of what it can do. Also, if you want to try it out for free, here’s a link to get a sample copy:

Google puts a LOT of emphasis on how many backlinks a site has. A backlink occurs when another site on the web has a link to your site. These links must be one-way and not reciprocal in order to count the most.

Any website owner can and should begin the process of getting backlinks to their site at a slow and steady rate. NEVER buy backlinks directly for the purpose of improving a site’s relevance in Google’s eyes.

Some of the methods any web site owner can use to obtain initial backlinks are:

  • Submit original articles to free article directories like EzineArticles, ArticleBase, GoArticles, etc. with the site’s backlink listed in the bio area.
  • Submit the website to the many free directories available online.
  • Find relevant blogs and forums that allow “do-follow” links and begin submitting quality posts to them.

If your site is good quality, other sites will eventually begin linking to it naturally. These are the BEST backlinks.

Most web site owners neglect the all important task of intra-linking their pages together. Intra-linking is a great way to build that initial page rank with Google. It’s not enough to just have a good navigation system.

Is Your WebSite Without a Road?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Is Your WebSite Without a Road?

Imagine a really cool and glitzy restaurant built on the side of a mountain. The view is breathtaking. The food is second to none. The ambiance is perfect. This new restaurant should be packed from open to close!

However, there is one big problem. The owner of the restaurant forgot about considering how folks will get there. Sure, there’s a primitive road to it but it is hard to find and difficult to maneuver. The owners thought it would be a matter of “build it and they will come”. However, there are other similar restaurants in the big city below which are much easier to get to. Although they may not be as perfect as the new, mountain-side restaurant, their ease of access provides their owners a fine income.

Why didn’t the mountain restaurant simply build the new business down with the rest of the successful ones? It’s simple really. The heavy competition made that option impossible. The concentrated and heavy competition made everything about building the restaurant near the others more difficult and even more expensive.

Here’s what the business owner should have done when building his new restaurant:

First, instead of going all out with offering a full featured restaurant with all the bells and whistles, the owner should have first considered a more conservative approach.  The owner should have opened a smaller, more tightly focused theme café on the outskirts of town. There, the overhead would be lower than prime spots, but customers would still have easy access.

Perhaps the café’s income would be significantly less than the upscale eateries with the prime locations. However, enjoying a little success is preferred over the lost-cause restaurant on the mountain.

I am of course using an analogy here to describe a common error that new Internet marketers often make.

Always remember to consider how (or if) you can get traffic to your new site. Never spend one minute of work on the site until you can answer that question. If you are unsure how to know if or how your new site will get traffic, that’s even more reason to slow down and better learn the process of Internet marketing before possibly wasting time on a dead-end project.

Know All You Can About Your Current Traffic

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Know All You Can About Your Current Traffic

One of the top questions I get from business owners is, “How can I get more traffic to my site?”

I always begin by asking them how much traffic they currently have and from where and how the visitors found the site. It’s amazing how many folks know almost nothing about their current traffic.

They may be able to tell me how many page views they get, but they often don’t know the difference between page views and “hits”. (There is a big difference.)

Google Analytics is free and every site should be using it or something comparable for tracking traffic stats. A site owner simply must know all he or she can about their site’s traffic.

Probably the most important reason for knowing those stats is that it is easier to increase traffic in the beginning by tweaking and better optimizing for pages and keywords that are already working somewhat.

Before simply adding more pages with more and more keywords, be sure that what is currently working is working the best it can. For example, when the analytics shows some traffic with a keyword to a page currently ranking on page 2, it is often a simple matter to tweak that page a bit in order to move it to page 1. Traffic to that page will often double or triple.

Traffic is Key

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Traffic is Key

Remember, you must never take your eye off of the real challenge: Traffic.

Everything you do must be focused on getting traffic. It does not matter if I create a really cool looking site; it must somehow get traffic for it to be a success.

Always ask yourself how you will get traffic to it. Why would someone want to come to it and spend a little time there.

There must be something of value…something interesting…some reason for traffic to come.

Then you must figure out how you will get traffic. Will you use search engine optimization techniques? ….write a lot of good content which Google and Yahoo will index well for keywords you have chosen for
your niche. This takes a lot of work but is by far the most productive, long-term solution.

Or you may participate in several blogs and forums where you are allowed to place the link in your signature file….this brings me a lot of traffic but is also a lot of ongoing work (unlike the SEO solution
above which keeps producing results long after I do most of the work).

Or you could write many articles about your subject and submit them to a place like ezinearticles.com where you can insert a link to your site at the bottom of the article. I do this too, but it takes a lot of
ongoing work.

It is best to use all methods to drive traffic…..you get some from here and there…and it all adds up.

It all takes a lot of work…lack of traffic is the BIG obstacle to success. Many beginners fail to recognize this and think that simply getting the site up there is the main step. Building the site is easy
compared to getting traffic to it.

Those who understand this and take action to insure traffic will succeed. Others who fail to place traffic as their top priority will fail.

Although I give away a LOT of info, I do promote some third party products that I use and find great value in.
Usually, I will receive a commission when these products are purchased from this site.
But as I said, I NEVER promote anything unless I find it valuable in my own business.
