Okies in Las Vegas
ByI finally have some pictures to show of our recent Vegas trip. We stayed for 3 days and on the second day was my run at Boulder City (about 20 miles away). I ran the half marathon…no problem with the distance, it was a race of heat endurance. Many of the runners in it used it as a “warm up” for the Badwater ultra run. I worked at running in the heat of the day to get ready for it. I ran it in about 2:33…that’s about 30 minutes slower than normal for me…but it was 112 degrees too.
Oh, and if you have not been to Freemont Street in Las Vegas, you have to check it out. We like it much better than the new strip. I bet a lot of people go to Las Vegas and never leave the new strip; you are really missing out if you don’t make it down there. Oh, and always go after dark. The 3 block long, overhead, curved video screen is something you can’t imagine!
We’ll be back next year!….Our next trip this year is to Tahoe in September…we’ll both be running the half there. We ran it last year and had a lot of fun. Lake Tahoe has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth!
